Escape to a historic award-winning former royal residence in North Wales - includes breakfast and optional dinner credit
  • Fit for a king: Dating back over 700 years, and with previous owners including Edward I, Henry VII and Elizabeth I, Ruthin Castle Hotel & Spa is a most unique residence. Set in acres of immaculate gardens and sprawling woodland, behind its ivy-clad façade, you'll find classic features and furnishings.

  • Soul-soothing spa: Nestled in the rustic woodland of the ancient moat, the soothing Bazaar Spa offers a lovely chance to unwind after a day out and about. Pamper yourself with an optional treatment, or enjoy the health club's facilities before working up a sweat in the fitness room.

  • When hunger strikes: Set within the building's historic banqueting hall, the Dragon Tavern serves gourmet, pan-European-influenced fare alongside refreshing beverages in a dramatic setting. You'll find outdoor seating here too, perfect for when you fancy a drink in good weather.

How to get there

By train, the hotel recommends taking a taxi from Chester train station, 25 miles away. The station is connected to Liverpool Central, Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Crewe, Llandudno and Leeds.

If you're coming by car from the direction of Manchester and Leeds, take the M6 followed by the M56, headed towards Chester and North Wales. From Birmingham and the south, take the M6 followed by the M54 towards Telford. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is 45 miles away and Manchester International Airport 48 miles away. Car hire is available at both.
