Property details

The perfect Lisbon retreat at an elegant, Art Deco-inspired boutique hotel - includes breakfast, bottle of wine, and more
  • Pretty in pink: Madalena by The Beautique Hotels cuts a stylish shape on Rua da Madalena, one of the city’s central thoroughfares. Its vibrant pink-tiled façade sets the tone for an ultra-feminine, romantic bolthole, inspired by the female form. Expect quirky décor, glittering chandeliers and plenty of gold accents.

  • Asian-inspired: While Portugal’s cosmopolitan capital has no shortage of places to eat, the hotel’s own restaurant offers a delectable menu of Japanese-inspired flavours, including sushi, hot dishes and tasting options. Seisan also has a bar for pre-dinner cocktails or a relaxing nightcap.

  • A good night’s sleep: Blissful bedrooms are equipped with a huge array of amenities to make life easier, from hairdryers and irons to speedy Wi-Fi. Beds are ultra-plush and soft lighting and tactile walls make them feel world’s away from the bustling city just outside the front door.

How to get there

Lisbon’s Humbergo Delgado Airport is a 20-minute taxi ride from the hotel. Alternatively, you can take the city’s cheap and efficient metro system. The nearest station, Rossio, is eight minutes’ walk from the hotel; take the green line to Alameda and change to the red line for the airport.

R. da Madalena 271, 1100-320 Lisboa, Portugal

Vibrant Lisbon undulates over a series of hills, rippling down to the mouth of the river Tagus in the south and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. The setting of the Madalena is fantastically central, walkable to all the main districts, known as here barrios: ancient Alfama, fashionable Barrio Alto, the traditional Moorish Quarter, elegant Baixa and bustling Chiado, the latter with its famous café culture. There’s a huge amount to see on foot, strolling up and down narrow, azulejos-tiled streets and grand boulevards in search of Fado bars, ceramics shops and the city’s best pastel de nata (egg custard tarts). For adventures further afield, you can rattle around the hills on the tram or jump on the metro.
