  • Swiss style: What do you get when you bring together rugged Montenegrin mountains and sleek Swiss design? Swissôtel Resort Kolašin, of course! This luxurious hotel is a study in ritzy alpine style but instead of being found in the ultra-spendy Swiss Alps, it’s positioned at 1,600 metres above sea level in the beautiful mountains of Kolašin, an hour from the Adriatic country’s capital city of Podgorica. It’s the first ski in, ski out resort in Montenegro and marries local tradition with contemporary design.

  • Wellness excellence: Whether you come to enjoy snowy pistes or summer paths, revive tired legs afterwards in the fantastically slick spa. This world of calm and restoration includes a menu of premium skincare treatments and massages, plus a relaxing heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, hammam and gym with strength and cardio machines.

  • All about the après: Pause your ski day for a trip to the hotel’s après-ski terrace, where you can soak up the sun slopeside with a side of stunning views. Take your pick from the choice of restaurants: Blend offers a varied buffet, The Morel is a luxurious à la carte offering, there’s a cigar salon where you can also order fine rums and whiskeys, and the Kamin Bar where you can sink into a plush sofa by the crackling fire.

How to get there

Swissôtel Resort Kolašin is about an hour’s drive from the nearest airport, Podgorica, which is 80 kilometres away. Due to the remote setting, a car is recommended to get the most from your experience.

Swissôtel Resort Kolašin, Ski Centar 1600, Kolasin 81210, Montenegro

While Montenegro has become famous in recent years for its undiscovered coves, perfect pebble beaches and dramatic fjord-like scenery, it’s also home to mountain resorts more commonly seen across the Alps. Around half an hour from Biogradska Gora National Park you’ll find the country’s main mountain resort, Kolašin, which teems with skiers and snowboarders taking to the snow-blanketed slopes in the chilly winter months. In the summer it’s an idyllic paradise of deep emerald forests, charming and traditional inns and picturesque squares, with miles of shady trails to explore on foot or by bike. After energetic days outside in the fresh, pine-scented air, refuel with hearty casserole-type dishes made from lamb stewed in milk with potatoes, carrots, rosemary and garlic, cooked over coals to make deliciously tender meat and warm, smoky flavours.

While feeling wonderfully remote, the capital, Podgorica is just over an hour away. Explore its pristine streets, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian influenced architecture, exciting galleries and museums and the magnificent Petrovic Palace.
