Property details
- Countryside bliss: Tucked away in the heart of Devon, The Fox & Hounds Country Hotel sits on six acres of idyllic grounds on the beautiful river Taw. Best known for its friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere and great food, the hotel is a true home from home – its individually appointed en suite rooms have bags of country charm, and days can be whiled away snuggled up by the roaring fire with a hot chocolate or overlooking the gardens from the terrace with a cold drink when the sun shines.
- Discover Devon: Set midway between Dartmoor and Exmoor and a short drive to the wide expanses of the north Devon beaches, this bucolic base is the ideal jumping off point from which to explore Devon. There are many historic sites and tourist attractions nearby, including RHS Rosemoor as well as outdoor activities, all within easy driving distance of the hotel.

Pooches are warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home with delicious treats, puppy parking, doggy wash stations and plenty of towels – plus the hotel is surrounded by forests, with miles of off-road, dog-safe wooded walks all around.
Set 25 minutes south of Barnstaple and just 40 minutes' drive from Exeter on the A377, the hotel is four hours from London by car. The nearby train station at Eggesford is under a five-minute walk away, with trains to London taking under three hours and trains to Bristol in around two hours.

Devon’s coastline is great for walking and surfing, particularly Croyde or Woolacombe beaches. If you’re an outdoors type, put a day aside to explore both Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. Scour the moorlands for Tors, enjoy a pint in a country pub and check out the white lady in the Valley of the Rocks.
