Think Lake District and you’ll no doubt imagine that quintessential view of rolling hills reflected in Lake Windermere’s tranquil waters. The outdoors are yours to explore at your leisure, from jogging around the lake and on the lawns to discovering the fells and peaks. Over on the other side of the lake, you'll find Wray Castle, a National Trust site - one of many in the Lake District National Park. The cute cafes and shops of Windermere and Ambleside also offer a lovely diversion, if you’d rather strike a more gentle pace.
