A unique boutique stay in the only hotel within the medieval village of Lisbon’s famous São Jorge Castle, including breakfast, sightseeing perks and more
  • A unique setting: As far as locations go, few hotels in the Portuguese capital can rival this Lisbon Heritage Collection member - after all, it’s the only hotel to be set within the medieval village of São Jorge Castle. Brimming with romance and boutique character, Solar do Castelo certainly makes for an unforgettable sojourn in the historic heart of Lisbon.

  • Sought-after gem: Despite its prized location and historic heritage, you’ll feel right at home in this hotel, where the hospitality is warm and the services are plentiful - from airport transfers to buffet breakfasts served in the lovely green courtyard. It’s little wonder that this property was awarded a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award.

  • Modern guest rooms: Echoing the hotel’s historic style, the guest rooms are brought up to date with bright and minimalist colour schemes, as well as all the necessary mod cons for a comfortable night’s rest - air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, Molton Brown bathroom amenities, and a lovely complimentary glass of Port wine.

How to get there

Solar do Castelo is centrally located in the Alfama neighbourhood, 10 minutes from the city’s main railway station, Rossio - Lisboa. It’s 22 minutes’ drive from Lisbon Portela Airport, or 45 minutes if you’re arriving by public transport (take the red metro line to Alameda, followed by the green line to Martim Moniz, from where the hotel is about a 15-minute walk).

With the hotel’s unrivalled location in the Alfama district, you’ll have plentiful landmark attractions right on your doorstep - starting with the Moorish São Jorge Castle, of course, whose fortifications date as far back as the 1st Century BC. While in Lisbon, take some time to enjoy a riverside stroll, people-watch on the bustling Praça do Comércio, feast on street food-style bites and drinks at the Time Out Market, and hop onto the Santa Just a Lift for lovely views across the city. Come evening, head straight into the Bairro Alto neighbourhood for bars and clubs aplenty.
