Elounda Plaka 72053 Crete Greece

The charming little village of Plaka faces the spectacular Bay of Mirabello, including the rocky island of Spinalonga. It’s the perfect spot if you want to get away from it all, but still have the option of day trips to some of the island’s northern sights.

Agios Nikolaos is a short way to the east with its pretty harbour, while the capital of Heraklion is to the west. The village is close to National Road, which links east and west Crete – hop on and you could whizz to the spectacularly unspoilt beaches of the far west, or even the lively resorts of Malia or Hersonissos.
